Ignasi Cairó Molins

Degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). PhD in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

He has more than 30 years of experience in RF, chip and CMOS design and development. He started his professional career in the product development group of the Circutor group, involved in the design of electronics for power systems and RFID. At Philips Semiconductors (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) he was MMIC designer developing power amplifiers in BiCMOS, and later at the San Jose (CA, USA) site, he developed the first WiFi transreceiver chip awarded as the best radio chip of 2001. He also led the R&D lab at Epson Electronics GmbH (Barcelona), developing RF system projects such as antennas, new CMOS devices and architectures, SSR passive filters, among others.

After two years as innovation director at Circutor group, and a 6 years stage as principal investigator at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research-IREC on microgrids and smart grids, he founded the companies Witeklab S.L. and Chatu Tech S.L. developing radiocommunication products with sensors and software platforms.

He has 27 patents and a long list of scientific publications in relevant journals and conferences with more than 9,000 citations.
